Preserved in Stitch

Carolyn Hall (b. 1972, London) is an Artist Teacher currently working in Oxford, England. Her work explores her Dutch-Indo cultural heritage by preserving the story of her ancestral migration through textiles and photography. Piecing together ancestral stories and inherited items passed down through her maternal family Carolyn has reenacted photographs of her maternal grandmother to visualise the narrative. Using textiles as the dominant medium she has embellished these images to create a comparison of then and now.
